Meet Artist Getu Hirpo, a seasoned United Kingdom-based pop maestro. Getu’s blending 25 years of musical prowess into an irresistible fusion of Western and African rhythms. His magnetic sound captivates internet listeners, and he has developed a captivating mix throughout an incredible journey.

Born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Getu’s musical journey began with a deep dive into Ethiopian music. Getu draws inspiration from his rich cultural heritage. His days with the Yared band in London during the 90s saw him performing Ethiopian cover songs. Getu performed at prestigious venues, weddings, and city events, earning acclaim and admiration.

During this time, Getu met eminent Ethiopian artists like Tilahun Gessese, Mehmood Ahmed, Ephrem Tamiru, and Tsehay Yohanis, who generously shared their wisdom, encouraging him to continue.

Additionally, driven to expand his musical canvas, Getu pursued higher education at Southwark College in 1997, graduating with a BTEC National Diploma in Popular Music. Furthermore, this academic venture broadened his musical vistas, intertwining the rich essence of Western contemporary music with his inherent African roots.

In 2010, the Breakthrough EP, produced by Paul Miles, marked a pinnacle in Getu’s musical repertoire. Additionally, tracks from this EP found their way onto online radios, showcasing their originality and irresistible appeal. Moreover, Getu’s music is catchy, original, authentic, and evocative, and he is known for making energetic tunes.

Furthermore, today, while staying true to his roots, Getu crafts and produces music primarily in English, seamlessly weaving together a tapestry of cultural influences, ensuring his tunes resonate across diverse audiences.
